It took me a bit of time to review the locking ring because it's rarely used. I mean, normally I make him wear the cage. After a couple of times now, I can tell you I'm very pleased with the locking ring.
I recently purchased this locking ring along with a jailbird as a set. The locking ring and cage were matched to the same base ring. (If I'm not using the correct terminology I hope the description is accurate enough to understand.)
I bought the locking ring for two purposes.
First, for the rare moments I remove the cage for my needs, I prefer not to have him remove the base ring and that leaves the post in the way. Normally, the post is easily swiveled below his scrotum. Testing the locking ring a time or two I can report I much prefer to attach the locking ring to the base ring anytime the cage is removed without having to rotate the post below.
Secondly, even with the cage removed, the locking ring gives me a measure of control without diminishing my needs.
I wish I would have known about locking rings sooner. Perhaps it could become an option (with a description of its purpose) when purchasing a cage?!?!
Secondly, the locking ring further allows me to control even when with the cage removed.
